Florence & Andrew Gill

Florence T. Gill (93), nee Walsh, passed away on June 15, 2022. Florence was born on January 5, 1929 to her parents Marie Henderson (Trost) and William Walsh in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Andrew James Gill, Sr. (94) passed away on December 24, 2022. Andrew was born on April 14, 1928 to his parents Agnes Hudders (McCann) and William Thomas Gill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Florence and Andrew are survived by their children, Gary (Robyn) Gill, Diane (James) Gill Hopkins, Carolyn (the late William) McKenna, and were predeceased by their son, Andrew James Gill, Jr. They are survived by 11 grandchildren, Lisa McKenna, Billy McKenna, Michelle (Art) Denoncour, Timmy McKenna, Tommy McKenna, Kelli Gill, Jamie (George) Fox, Austin Gill, Garrett Gill, Wyatt Gill, Lauren Gill and predeceased by grandson, Andrew James Gill III. Florence and Andrew also leave behind 12 great-grandchildren.

Florence and Andrew grew up in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, where they fell in love as young teenagers. They were married shortly after Andrew was Honorably Discharged from the Army at the end of WWII. They purchased land in Bensalem, PA and spent their weekends and savings building a cinderblock 2-bay garage with living quarters on top. Florence mixed the concrete, and Andy laid the blocks. Their "house" and original factory was completed in the summer of 1950, and they promptly opened Gill Jalousie. Andy installed the windows and then went on sales calls until early evening, and Floss made the windows for the next day while caring for the children. They transformed the business as times changed, first with storm windows and doors and then a powder coating line. That land is still the site of the family business proudly run 73 years later by granddaughters Kelli Gill and Jamie Fox. 

Florence and Andrew worked hard to grow their business and were fortunate to enjoy its success. If Andrew was not at work, then he could be found at his favorite place, Torresdale Country Club, playing golf. Florence also enjoyed her time at Torresdale playing bridge and socializing with the other members.

Relatives and friends are invited to their Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1731 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020. There will be Visitation  from 10:30 - 11:30 A.M.  Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M.

Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.
