John F. Wischum Obituary

John F. (Jack) Wischum, 93, February 2, 2022. Proud alumnus and supporter of Northeast Catholic High School (1946). Devoted husband of the late Nancy (Anne, née McQuillan) for 69 years. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, John T. and Anna (née Millett) and his sisters, Marie Underkofler, Gertrude Overton and Elaine Kemery. He is survived by his children, M. Amy, Kathleen Sears (Chris), Marian White (Bob), Grace Wischum Smith, John G. (Jay) and his wife Candace, and Christine McCann (Brian). He also leaves behind 9 grieving grandchildren: Robert White, Erinn White (Chris), Kaitlyn Price (Dan), Sean Wischum (Trysha), Kegan Smith (Amanda Long), Lauren Smith, Brian McCann, Emily McCann and Meghan McCann; and 6 great-grandchildren: Everett White, Colin Price, Nolan White, Myles Wischum, Allie Long and Stephen Long. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Francis McCormac, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack spent 40 Years in the food service industry, managing department store, corporate and hospital food service delivery. He was generous with his time and money. As a faithful parishioner of Christ the King Parish for more than 55 years and a man of strong faith, Jack volunteered his time for Aid for Friends, the weekly jackpot drawing, and several other parish activities. As a life-long Philadelphian, he supported the local teams, but the support of his grandchildren’s athletic and creative interests was of primary importance.

Jack spent the last four and a half years at Wesley Enhanced Living (Pennypack), where he served as an ambassador, attended social activities and always had something positive to say. Jack also devoted many hours trying to be a pool shark, with some degree of success. His Friday game night friends added to his satisfaction with a life well lived and blessed. He will be missed for his good humor, ability to remember jokes from 60 years ago, and smart-aleck cracks.
