On February 20, 2021, Billy Harold, also known as Bubba, passed away peacefully and quietly at home in his mother’s arms. He had just turned 43. He was the first born to Bill and Kathy, with three sisters to follow. Billy suffered a severe brain injury during delivery which left him severely impaired and medically fragile, with no chance of improving. Billy could not speak, yet he spoke volumes. Billy was loved and cared for by his family. He spent many summers at Maplewood Swim Club floating around on his raft or being pushed down the boardwalk in Ocean City. He sat on many sidelines at his sisters’ basketball and softball games. Billy taught us to take one day at a time and never take it for granted. He taught us the love of family and the importance of pulling together in times of need. He was the soul of our family. When at our home in Sea Isle City, it was not unusual to find most of the family hanging out in Billy’s room. He was loved by his nieces and nephew, who frequently sat in his wheelchair to watch TV in his room. On his many hospitalizations, his sisters and Aunt Nancy would be frequent visitors. Billy formed the backdrop of our lives. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Kathy, his sisters, Christine (Justin), Melissa, and Lauren (Matt). Billy will be especially missed by his nephew, Jack, and his nieces, Grace, Luciana and Isabella.
A special thank you to Bayada nurses, especially Barb, Joy and Tracey, for years of exceptional care. In addition, thank you to Billy’s physical therapist, Diane, who worked with him for 35 years.
